Poland does not have a breed club for Greenland Dogs but it has the Polish Kennel Club (ZKwP) which belongs to FCI.

The host of WSA World Championships, that took place on 26-27.02.2010, was Germany (the surroundings of the town Oberwiesenthal in Saxony).

The trails in Oberwiesenthal are with the medium degree of difficulty, with the pretty varried height profile, they might be very demanding sometimes. This time the weather wasn't fortunate for dogs and mushers. The snow was melting. Only on Saturday there was little under zero degrees and sun was peeping out of the clouds. Friday and Sunday was windy and wet so dogs were bogging down in snow at many places - although the machines were firming it every night.

There was 253 mushers from 18 countries. The nation cup winner was again Poland. Our country has been winning the nation cup already three times in WSA world championships and two times in WSA Europeand championships, all five in a raw.
Check out the RESULTS (note: PDF file). And here in the GALLERY you can find more photos, more greenland dogs :-)

30 maja w Gdańsku musher i hodowca psów grenlandzkich Bartek wspólnie z Maćkiem i Olą oraz przyjaciółmi zorganizowali piknik rodzinny. Nazwali go ZAPRZĘG ŻYCIA.

Greenland dogs were running in team of following mushers:
Waldemar Stawowczyk - Roman Radłowski - Józef Świniarski - Mikołaj Waśkowski - Agnieszka Błach - Marzena Siewiorek - Maciej Szlachetko - Jolanta Sołek - Agata Mordzonek - Andrzej Andrzejewski - Rakowski Łukasz

A few words about life with Greenland Dog here in Poland
By Monika Stawowczyk
In my opinion there is here in Poland approximately a hundred of pedigree Greenland Dogs, maybe up to 110 dogs at most. People have from 1 to even 10 GD, there is ca. 25-30 of GD owners. It's observed that the number of GD dogs and even of GD owners has been constantly increasing since a year or two. People are enlarging their GD teams and still new people are getting interested in buying one(s). This is because GD in Poland are mostly used for mushing. Mushing is realized sportively (in sprints mainly) as well as recreationally (in mid/long distance mainly). As for sportively mushing in sprints it's obvious that GD are more competitive in category 2 then Alaskan Malamutes and Samoyeds. And as for recreationally mushing there is a lot of people who want to spend their time with GD on a trail doing what these dogs are designed for mostly. Another thing is that more and more people start to believe that they can manage with raising and training of GD.
Sporting life with GD in Poland does not exclude some show successes. We have some champions :-)
Unfortunately we don't have any breed club. But the breed is recognized by the Polish Kennel Club - Związek Kynologiczny w Polsce (ZKwP)
ZKwP's requirements for breeding Greenland Dogs: Unfortunately we don't have many requirements to fulfill to have a litter registrated. Only some number and level of scores on dogshows: - 2 national shows + 1 international show (for the same judges mostly) - A male must get only "excellent" score on each show, a female must get "excellent" or "very good" score. - And both must be at least 18 months old. That's it. No hip/eyes checks required, no pulling test etc. We are trying to develop some custom to make veterinary tests on hips/eyes.
